Breffni Vintage Club Donates €7000.00 To Charity

On the 27th February 2017 following their monthly meeting in the Seven Horseshoes Hotel, Belturbet Breffni Vintage Club distributed €7000.00 to a number of charities in Cavan, Leitrim and Fermanagh.

The recipients responding gave us an insight into the activities of their various organisations. The information imparted to the audience would leave one in no doubt that these are very worthy organisations and deserve great credit and the support of the entire community. The Breffni Vintage Club are pleased to be able to offer support to these organisations at this time.

New Year’s Day Run 2017

The club got the year off to a great start by having a new year’s day run organised by Denis Wright. This was traditionally a bike run but due to its popularity it was decided to open it up to all vehicles. So on this occasion we had over thirty bikes, trikes cars and vans.

The day started  with a mulled wine (non alcoholic) reception and finger food which went down a treat so much so that it was with difficulty that some drivers were persuaded to return to their vehicles. The club is greatly appreciative of Denis and Anne’s efforts on behalf of the club. The “run” then proceeded via Killeshandra, Ballinagh and back to Cavan town where a stop was made at a cafe for a cupa and a chat before heading home all in beautiful weather. The outing may be viewed on Youtube below thanks to Padraig Gaffney:

We are currently preparing for our auto jumble in Cavan on the 19th of March and then we will concentrate on a full calendar of events for the coming year and we will post the details here when they are finalised.

New Officers Appointed

Our long standing chairman Eugene Markey recently stepped down from his position on health grounds. Eugene was a founding member of our club and has served as chair person for over twenty years, a record not likely to be broken. His expertise and knowledge of history and all things motoring is legendary and we will miss his guiding hand. On the plus side he has left us a legacy of a strong and vibrant club and for that we are grateful and wish him a speedy recovery and hope that he will soon be out and about in his beloved Fords.

At an extra ordinary general meeting on the 30th of January 2017 the following officers were elected:

Chairperson:  Liam D’Arcy
Vice Chairperson: Peter Lynch
Assistant Secretary: Garry Mc Guigan

All other officers and committee remain unchanged.
